I just wish they would do a Russian-English one, or a French-Russian-French.
Russian is my native language, I moved to Canada 7 years ago. Sometime I need to look up the English words that are unknown to me. And do it via Internet could be too slow and inconvenient. So I was going to buy SlovoEd dictionary (available in AppStore) from one very good and reputable Russian company. I had their dictionary on my Palm. They have 2 dictionaries you should check - for $20 and $25. Nice thing about those that translation entries are very long, provide all possible meanings and also have 10,000 or 20,000 sound entries (recorded by native English speakers). However yesterday just before I was going to click "Buy App", I did the last search and found this application just published! All the dictionaires compared had about 100,000 entries. Looked in Internet - no reviews, their site did not look too professional either. Made me cautios, but the price difference was too much and $5 is not a big deal if you going to spend $25. Finally I decided to try it and NOT disappointed. The interface looks bright and clean. Did the search for word "reference" - produced about 20-30 translation meanings... History up to 500 entries, list of Favorites... It even has a sound - pronounce the word in robot (synthesized) voice. Useless most of the time, but might be used sometime for very hard words or by my mother (who has trouble pronouncing English words) or kids (as a toy?). Has a Help in it with instructions, Advanced Search (to search on a pattern) and Grammar book (just Gramamr rules). All in all I think its pretty good for my needs and FOR THE PRICE. My idea that if I find a really hard word, I can open a browser and look it up in one of nice Internet translators. However if you are very serious about your translation, has iPod Touch rather than iPhone, have extra $20 or need good sounding pronounciation, you may consider SlovoEd instead.
Very thorough for the price and the regular upadates to both the features and interface make this an exceptional bang for the buck. A must have for all students of Russian.
If you learn English, you wont find as good as this in AppStore for that price.
For sure its one of the best dictionaries. Five stars. However, please fix the blurry text in Favorites list, its because labels are not aligned to the pixel grid causing igly subsampling :(
Hey, what the hack? After upgrading iPhone to 4 there is a bug - cant delete any word from favorites. Repair it please

Some bad moments

Very cheap app, only has sound for English.... Only good if you are trying to learn English
The description of the program suggests English-Russian/Russian-English dictionary. But after purchasing the program, I found there is only a English-Russian. Besides being false advertisment, the program is useless to me for that reason. Until this is addressed, I have no use for this program. Other than this key aspect, the other features seem to work fine.
I wish to learn Russian in the following months and years and I thought this would be a good start. I WAS WRONG. This is a terrible app and as proof, it doesnt even have the Russian translation for the word "Russia"? Im not kidding!! Do not download this app!!

It should have an option of being a Russian-English dictionary so that people who are learning how to speak can use it as a reference.
I nee to be able to turn word of the day off!!! and it has no spell check!!!
